Dinner time is a special time, especially if you have family. And just on that note, you should be serving your family the same meal, and not preparing different foods.
By the time dinner times comes along, you should have had another 3-4 glasses of water (with or without lemon). Make sure you check your blood sugar, so you can either increase your carb intake at this meal time, or choose something with less carbs. And once again, if you’re not hungry, do not force yourself to eat.
As long as you’re eating from the Green List, choose one protein, two veg and add a fat.
Here are a few dinner ideas:
- Grilled or fried fish, served with steamed broccoli, spinach and mushrooms.
- Cottage pie made with cauliflower mash and served with a side salad
- Vegetable curry or stew with cauliflower rice.
- Grilled sausages with tomato and mushroom gravy and served with stir fry vegetables (cabbage, peppers and green beans).
- Grilled chicken (with skin on) served with cauliflower and green beans
- Vegetable zoodles served with a meat bolognaise sauce (Zucchini or cabbage noodles), served with a side salad.
- Beef steak with Broccoli and a side salad.

Tips:
- Drink a glass of water 15 minutes before dinner
- Watch your protein serving. This should be the size of the palm of your hand, and no thicker than your finger.
- Test your blood sugar two hours after dinner to see how this meal reacted with your blood sugar.
- Nothing to eat after dinner.
- No snacking at any time.
